SUMMARY:NAMI Wichita's 2023 Candlelight Ceremony - Rekindling Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, the Wichita affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) holds a Candlelight Ceremony on the Sunday that begins Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW)\, which is observed nationwide. Our goals are: (1) to educate people about serious mental illness\, (2) to let people know that services are available for individuals suffering from mental illness\, and (3) to reduce stigma. \nThis year\, our Candlelight Ceremony to promote awareness of mental illness\, will be held on Sunday evening\, October 1\, 2023\, at Newman University\, in the Bishop Gerber Science Center\, room 105. This year’s speaker will be Ginger Healy\, LCSW pediatric trauma therapist. She is currently the director of programs for the Attachment & Trauma Network. She co-anchors the podcast “Regulated and Relational” and speaks nationwide on therapeutic parenting and creating trauma-sensitive schools. She is the author of Regulation and Co-Regulation: Accessible Neuroscience that Brings Calm into the Classroom. \nThe evening starts at 6:00 PM with a reception and exhibits. The program\, Rekindling Resilience\, will begin at 7:00 PM.
